The accuracy of the mixture composition can only be achieved by a control loop, which continuously measures the exhaust gas in order for the supplied fuel amount to be corrected accordingly. As a probe for the exhaust gas composition, the oxygen sensor is used. It is installed in the exhaust pipe before the catalytic converter.
